Tandem attests to Jan KLIMEŠ' interest in cinema and the moving image. The three-dimensional image of the doubled bicycle suggests the succession of images on a film strip. The artist seeks furthermore to embody Andrei Tarkovski's concept of cinema as "sculpting in time" with a sculpture that encompasses the temporal dimension, redoubling the bike on which Alexander, the protagonist of "The Sacrifice", hurries in order to save humanity from total destruction.
